THE RANDY YAMADA FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

One of the Foundations purposes shall be to provide educational support to family members of Sacramento County Probation Association (SCPA) members through scholarships and grants for educational purposes. In 2018 the RYF Board of Directors was proud to honor and celebrate the life of McKenna Lee Hollar. McKenna was the true catapult behind the creation of the RYF and therefore she has directly contributed to the countless number of positive impacts the RYF has had upon Probation Officers Statewide. Her positive impacts upon Probation Officers will continue to be felt forever through the RYF as we continue to grow.

The 2018 McKenna Lee Hollar Scholarship Winner!!!

The RYF Scholarship Committee is proud to announce that Gabriel Galaviz is the proud winner of the 1st ever McKenna Lee Hollar Scholarship. The scholarship is for $5000. Gabriel was accepted and attended Boise State University the Fall of 2019.

There were twelve incredible applicants for the McKenna Lee Hollar Scholarship in 2019. We want to thank every applicant for their time and the hard work they put into applying for the Scholarship. We would like to express how proud we are of the amazing accomplishments they have achieved. Given the amazing applications the RYF Board of Directors voted to provide a second scholarship for $2500 as well this year. The winner of the $5000 McKenna Lee Hollar Scholarship is is Alaine Hardenburgh and the Julius Micheletti Scholarship for $2500 went to Araceli Sanchez. Both of these candidate have demonstrated dedication to their education, extra curricular activities and their community. We wish them the best in her future endeavors.

Due in Spring

For scholarships in the name of SPD fallen officers: Applicants must be a dependent or have family relationship to an active or retired SPOA member in good standing.

For scholarships in the name of other SPD employees past or present: Applicants must be a resident of the City of Sacramento or currently enrolled in a high school within the City of Sacramento, and also be a high school senior who will be entering college for the first time.

The Randy Yamada Foundation Scholarship Application Due by June 1st of each Year. Scholarships will be awarded to a sworn Sacramento County Probation Department Employee’s child or grandchild, who is a senior graduating from high school with a well-rounded academic and extracurricular background.

The McKenna Lee Hollar Scholarship $5000.00

The Julius Micheletti Scholorship $2500.00

Each year our Long Term Disability Plan Administrators, California Public Safety Administrators, Inc., donate four scholarships to the children of CLEA Plan Participants.

Scholarship distribution consists of $2,000 – four awards of $500 each.

3 Scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors enrolling in a community college, university, vocational or technical school.

1 Scholarship will be awarded to students continuing at a community college, university, vocational or technical school.

The State Coalition of Probation Organizations will award one scholarship up to $1,000.00
annually to an eligible recipient in the name of Jim Frayne. Applications MUST be received by
the Committee on or before May 31st of each year. Applicants must follow all directions; this
is part of the eligibility process.
